The woman had just finished taking a bath when she walked into the front room, where she saw a man standing over her son, who was sleeping in a recliner.
She yelled for him to leave but he refused, and that's when she grabbed the bat.
Police say the woman swung at the man eight times and missed every time, but when she started crying he fell down and pretended to be hurt.
