Well of course, he was killed for Carrying While Black. If he'd been some white redneck toting his assault rifle over his shoulder in a Walmart he'd have been a Brave Patriot Defying The Oppressive Government. It's all about the context. Which is to say, color.
You have to admit we're making a lot of progress with racism. We used to just fire or falsely imprison people of color, but now we can actually kill them without getting into trouble. If our great-grandparents were still alive, they'd be high-fiving us right now.
